Mydriacyl 1% (15 mL) is an ophthalmic solution that requires a prescription and is utilized for dilating pupils and relaxing eye focusing muscles temporarily. This medication allows health professionals to thoroughly examine a retina and conduct vision tests properly. Active Ingredient: Tropicamide 1%.Important InformationMechanism of Action: The drug works as an anticholinergic agent and blocks nervous impulses that result in constriction of the pupil and changes in the lens.Ingredients: The preparation contains 1% of tropicamide, 0.01% of benzalkonium chloride (as preservative), sodium chloride, edetate disodium, purified water, and hydrochloric acid/ sodium hydroxide for adjusting the pH value.Side Effects: Temporary irritation after applying the drug, blurring vision, light sensitivity, and dryness of mouth.Contact Lens: The preservative in the preparation (benzalkonium chloride) may discolor soft contact lenses. Before using the drops the lenses should be removed and put back after at least 15 minutes.Safety Warnings: You should avoid driving and operating machinery when your pupils are dilated and should not use this drug if you have a narrow angle glaucoma or are at risk for this condition.Storage: Store at 8°-27°C (46°-80°F); keep closed and do not freeze.
