Description
Myfortic 360mg is an immunosuppressive drug that is administered alongside other medications (for example, corticosteroids) for preventing rejection of the transplanted kidney. It consists of the active component – mycophenolate sodium. The mechanism of action of the medication is reducing the activity of the immune system. Key Information About the DrugAdministration: The tablets should be ingested whole, as the medication is gastro-resistant. Therefore, do not crush, chew or break the tablets. Dosage: The recommended dosage for preventing organ rejection is usually two tablets of 360mg each (720 mg) twice per day (in the morning and evening) in total 1440 mg daily.Appearance: This drug is usually prescribed as pale orange-red, film-coated, ovaloid tablet debossed with “CT” mark on one side.Important WarningsPregnancy: It may cause miscarriages and severe malformations of the baby. Women who are able to have children need to take contraceptive measures during the treatment.Side Effects:The most common side effects are diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, headache, and increased risk of infections due to reduced activity of the immune system.Exposure to Sunlight: It reduces activity of the immune system, therefore, the risk of different types of cancer including skin cancer increases.
